Company Named One Of Top U.S. Corporations For Women's Business Enterprises
Our Company was recently included in the Women‘s Business Enterprise National Council‘s annual list of America‘s Top Corporations for Women‘s Business Enterprises for its ongoing supplier diversity efforts. This honor recognizes our commitment to ensuring that women and minority-owned businesses have an equal opportunity to compete for contracts with our Company. With an increasingly diverse marketplace, it makes good business sense to have a diverse supplier base -- these businesses are the employers, role models and influential leaders in the communities we serve. The 2005 list includes 18 corporations; the largest number to date in the program‘s seven-year history. Founded in 1997, WBENC is the nation‘s leading third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women, and a leading advocate of women‘s business enterprises (WBEs) as suppliers to Corporate America. Supplier Diversity at The We established our Supplier Diversity program to develop a supplier base that is as diverse as our customers and consumers. The program‘s mission is to maximize procurement opportunities for minority-and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) by proactively seeking and building partnerships with qualified suppliers. By including customers and consumers in purchasing strategies, we believe we can spur long-term growth and create a competitive advantage around the world. An expansive outreach program and active participation in national, regional and local minority and women‘s business advocacy organizations have significantly increased the visibility of our Company's commitment to supplier diversity. Supplier diversity team members also serve on the boards of many minority and women business organizations, including WBENC and the National Minority Supplier Development Council, which provides a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses.
